What Is a CORR-A-SEAL® Corrugated Metal Gasket?
A CORR-A-SEAL® gasket is a semi-metallic sealing solution made from a corrugated metal core combined with soft facing materials on one or both sides. The corrugated profile creates concentric sealing ribs that improve compressibility and recovery while maintaining structural integrity. Our CORR-A-SEAL® gaskets are designed to deliver superior blowout resistance, recovery, and long-term sealing performance in applications where temperature fluctuations, pressure changes, and aggressive media can cause standard gasketing materials to fail. CORR-A-SEAL® vs Traditional Soft Gaskets
Traditional soft gaskets perform well in many low- to moderate-pressure applications, but demanding operating conditions often require a more robust sealing solution. CORR-A-SEAL® corrugated metal gaskets combine the resilience of a precision-formed metal core with high-performance facing materials to provide improved recovery, greater resistance to thermal cycling, and enhanced sealing reliability. This construction helps maintain gasket stress over time, making CORR-A-SEAL® an excellent choice for high-temperature, high-pressure, and critical process applications where conventional soft gaskets may experience compression loss or reduced service life.
While CORR-A-SEAL provides outstanding sealing performance, some applications may benefit from other semi-metallic gasket designs. Depending on flange condition, pressure, and operating requirements, our Spiral Wound Gaskets or Kammprofile Gaskets may also be appropriate solutions.

Standard CORR-A-SEAL® Corrugated Metal Gasket Specifications
M&P Sealing manufactures CORR-A-SEAL® corrugated metal gaskets built for reliable sealing in demanding industrial environments. Our standard gasket design combines metal strength with soft sealing materials to deliver long-term leak prevention and dependable recovery.
- Metal Core SS 316 (316L Stainless Steel) Encapsulated in graphite (Other metals are available)
- Pressure Rating 150 LB and 300 LB nominal pipe and fittings to suit ASME/B16.5 raised face flanges.
- Standard gasket thickness is 3/32”

CORR-A-SEAL® gaskets help compensate for minor flange imperfections and maintain a dependable seal under varying operating conditions.
Heat Exchangers seems to be where the Corr-a-Seal performs at its highest potential. These applications are the most challenging with Delta P and Delta T conditions commonly found in crude units in refineries. Corr-a-Seal gaskets are primarily designed for TEMA shell and tube heat exchanger vessels. It allows you to maintain a tight seal in a wider range of bolt loads. They ensure a tight seal under fluctuating temperature and pressure conditions and can be supplied with partition pars in any configuration.
Valve Bonnet Gaskets / Bonnet Seals
Valve Bonnet flanges in 150# and 300# class are easily bent by over tightening trying to get a high-stress gasket to seal when there’s usually only four bolts. Corr-a-Seal gaskets have performed admirably in this application. These are almost always very narrow cross-section gaskets and which should mean it would require less force to seal. Not so much with high-stress spiral wound gaskets. The Corr-a-Seal gasket seals with 2/3 less bolt load than a spiral wound with the same level of tightness. By having a much lower seating stress you’re much less likely to overstress your bolts and flanges.
