RTJ Gaskets (Ring Type Joint Gaskets)

When operating conditions involve extreme pressure, elevated temperatures, and critical sealing requirements, RTJ gaskets provide one of the most reliable sealing solutions available. Ring Type Joint (RTJ) gaskets are specifically designed for high-pressure flange connections commonly found in oil and gas, petrochemical, refining, offshore, and industrial processing applications.

At M&P Sealing, we supply high-quality RTJ gaskets manufactured to meet industry standards and demanding service conditions. Available in multiple profiles, materials, and sizes, our RTJ gaskets help customers maintain leak-free performance in some of the industry’s most challenging environments.

Precision-machined stainless steel RTJ (Ring Type Joint) gasket designed for high-pressure and high-temperature flange sealing applications in oil and gas, refinery, and industrial processing systems.

What Are RTJ Gaskets?

Ring Type Joint (RTJ) gaskets are precision-machined metallic sealing rings designed to fit into specially machined grooves on RTJ flanges. As flange bolts are tightened, the metal gasket deforms into the groove, creating a high-integrity metal-to-metal seal capable of withstanding extreme pressures and temperatures.

RTJ gaskets are commonly specified where soft gaskets may not provide sufficient sealing performance or long-term reliability.

Key Benefits of RTJ Gaskets

  • Excellent sealing performance in high-pressure systems
  • Suitable for elevated temperatures
  • Reliable metal-to-metal sealing
  • Reduced risk of fugitive emissions
  • Resistant to blowout under demanding conditions
  • Long service life in critical applications
  • Available in multiple materials for corrosion resistance
  • Designed to meet API and ASME standards

Applications for RTJ Gaskets

RTJ gaskets are frequently used in:

  • High-pressure flanges
  • API flanges
  • Wellhead equipment
  • Pressure vessels
  • Heat exchangers
  • Pipeline systems
  • Refinery process units
  • Offshore production equipment
  • Petrochemical plants
  • Steam and power systems

Types of RTJ Gaskets

Oval RTJ Gaskets

Oval RTJ gaskets feature an oval-shaped cross section and are commonly used in older flange designs. They provide excellent sealing performance and remain widely used throughout refining and petrochemical facilities.

Octagonal RTJ Gaskets

Octagonal RTJ gaskets feature an octagonal cross section that creates a more efficient sealing surface and typically offers improved sealing performance compared to oval styles.

RX RTJ Gaskets

RX gaskets are designed for higher pressure applications and provide increased sealing efficiency by utilizing system pressure to improve seal performance.

BX RTJ Gaskets

BX gaskets are specifically designed for API-rated flanges and extremely high-pressure service. They are commonly found in critical oilfield and wellhead applications.
